Wednesday Ramblings | Top Five Matte Red Lipsticks

11th November 2015 by naffy

For as long as I can remember I have loved a red lip. This year though, something changed slightly. I stopped wearing them as much and stuck to neutrals and berries instead. Now that it is winter I have been taking out the red tubes of deliciousness again and thought I would share my top five with you.

All of these are matte because that is my formula of choice.

Loreal Ever Riche Pure Red Lipstick in Blake Lively Red | Buy Here
I did a whole blog post on this beauty but this is one of the only red lipsticks from the drugstore I  truly enjoy. It is a nice rich blue toned red which works well for girls with a paler complexion but also works well with my olive skin tone.

It last all day, I usually wear this to work and do not have to worry about this going everywhere and looking a mess when I need to speak to my co-workers after drinking a cup of tea.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 111 Kiss of Life | Buy Here
Will all the hype placed on the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 107, the shade 111 seems to forgotten but I wear this shade just as much. I like to call this my special occasion lipstick of choice because it glides on easily on the lips and just sits well. There are no prune lips that usually come with this. It is a velvet matte finish making it comfortable. It is a bright red perfect for parties and weddings.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Fiery | Buy Here
If you subscribed to my Youtube channel I have already mentioned my love for Liquid Lipsticks. This is the shade fiery which is a nice rich blue toned red. This one you have take a little bit of time to apply but once you do it stays on all day. It instantly sticks to your lips which I love. The formula is a true matte so you have to prep your lips before hand and can apply lip balm on top too if you wanted too.

NARS VIP Red Lipstick | Buy Here
The latest red to hit my collection. This is more of a deeper burnt red shade. VIP Red has more brown undertones to it. The formula is the perfect matte formula because although it is matte the NARS lipsticks are infused with Vitamin E so it is very nourishing on the lips.

NARS Cruella | Buy Here
My love for the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil started with NARS Cruellla. It is a straight blue tone red. If you are someone who works long hours but likes to go out after work for a catch up with friends or the office party this is my go too. It is so easy to apply and takes up no room in your bag. I can sometimes be quite messy with my red lipstick application but the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils apply in such a way I know I do not have to worry about looking like a clown.

Those are my top five red lipsticks of the moment. I also have a video outlining all the lipsticks in detail and swatches if you want to know even more about my picks.

Let me know what red lipsticks you will be wearing this winter. Are there any I need to check out?

I only own one red lipstick- MAC Lady Red. I rarely use red lipstick as I sometimes think it's a bit too much on me, but it looks fab on you!

Like you I have neglected red lips for quite a while, particularly as it is difficult to find one that goes well with my purple hair. Although I overworry about that.
My favourite reds are from lush. Not only do they last and come in amazing colour tones but the added no animal cruelty is just an amazing plus, although I do feel that they are a little overpriceed.
Thank you for sharing those options, I will definately testing 1 or 2
