Last weekend, I was lucky enough to visit Glamour Beauty festival for Ten Eighty Magazine. As a beauty junkie I was literally jumping up and down as I made my way to the Saatchi Gallery. It has been an event I had my eye on but wasn’t sure if I wanted to take the plunge. If this is you, here are five reason to visit the Glamour Beauty festival in 2019. (it’ll be here before you know it)
I am the nerd who likes to sit infant of the lecture theatre. The talks at Glamour Beauty Festival are all about empowering women – talking about everything from starting your own business, to how to look after yourself. There is a talk for everyone with some amazing guests. This years line up included, Victoria McGrath, The Hemsley Sisters, The Sarah Chapman and more.
The Goodie Bag
Before I went to the event, I was told the goodie bag would be a dream and it really disappoint. There were decent sized items from brands such s Fresh, NARS, Batise and Elizabeth Arden.
There is something motivating about being around women who share the same passion and love for beauty as you. I attended the event on my own but I made friends with a girl who I sat next too at the first talk, after that I was able to speak to women in the ques for treatments. The ladies at Kat Von D were so chatty. The sue was long but they were so lovely and up for chatting. I even saw them later one walking around and they stopped for a chat.
Learning tricks of the trade
There were opportunities to test out foundations, eye looks and skincare from brands such as Kat Von D, Fresh and Caudalie. You get to meet their staff and literally use the time to be creative with your make up look and ask any questions you have. I did a really intricate look with Kat Von D and had a good ole skincare chat with Fresh and Caudalie finding out about different skin types. Caudalie actually had a machine which literally brings up an x ray of your pores. It was scary and enlightening all in one.
Exploring Kings Road
The festival closes for an hour to allow their staff to grab a bite to eat (love this by the way – something more weekend events should include ) It was my first time visiting Kings Road which is home to some amazing shops and cute little independent coffee shops. The shops are on the luxury side of things but they are all beautiful and worth exploring. I came across a Gelato Cafe which as some of the most delicious vegan chocolate dairy free sorbet which I need to go back for.
So would I go again? Yes, although depending on the talks, I could probably get away with going just for the day and would definitely go with another beauty obsessed friend as I think it would add a little something to the experience.
If you want to know more about the talks and treatments – I included it in my piece for Ten Eighty which will be up soon so keep an eye out!
