I recently stumbled across this video from Lucy Moon, where she talks about some of the things she wish she knew as a teenager and for some reason this really resonated. I immediately knew this is a type of video I wanted to film. This has not happened to me for the longest time so I went with it. The video turned out to be so long but I had more to share, which is why I thought I share another five important things I wish I knew as a teenager.
You are Strong
You have been doing Karate since you were nine years old. Girl, you have muscles and can throw a punch if you need too. You feel empowered in your body. It helps you function. Somewhere a long the line, you forget this, you mistreat your body and become weak. Remember what it feels like to be strong. It will be your guidance light.
Confidence is a rollercoaster
It is ok to feel vulnerable. As you grow up, you will realise the confidence you feel has to come from you. There will be times when this will waver and you will try to find this confidence from others but the truth is, you need to keep belief in yourself. It is what will keep you going through those dark, anxious, lonely, night.
High School is not forever
It is confusing, conflicting and even though you were muddling though, have solice in the idea, it will be over in a few short years. You will find people you can call your true friends, you will find people who love you warts and all. Keep them close for as long as you can. These are the people who push you forward.
Saying no is not a sign of weakness
Sometimes it is ok to say no. There will be times when you need to put yourself first. Later on in life you will realise the importance of having to put yourself first occasionally. Saying no does not make you a bad person, in fact it can make you a good person. It means when you do say yes, you say yes and give your all to that task. It will have your full genuine attention.
Keep forging your own path
You are not meant to follow the crowd and that is ok. Keep going. Keep pushing your self from society norms of school. You are on your own path and yes there will be ups and downs but it will be your own path not anyone elses.
And there you have it. Those are five important things I wish I knew as a teenager. If you want to find out more, you can find out more in this weeks video which will be live on my channel at 5pm. I am sorry it is not the beauty video you are use too but I will be back to fill your beauty void next week.
Let me know if you have a five important things I wish I knew as a teenager list you would share with a teenage you.
