Letter to my future self

A Letter to my future self

IMG_0224 Nafisah Letter to my future self Right now, you feel like you are in a bit of a stand still. You have ideas and goals you want to achieve and I hope by the time this gets to you, these dreams will come to a fruition.

You have had a hard few years, a lot of changes, a lot of disappointment. You have never felt more upset at yourself but you are working on it. You are realising it is important to love yourself in order to love those around you.

You are currently finding your voice and realising it is ok to have a opinion. You do not have to agree with everyone around you just to make them happy. At the moment it is a little bit fuzzy and you are figuring it out but it is ok. The main thing if you need to state your opinion you will – you do need to stop saying sorry about it though. Take cues from the women who inspire you, after all, you wouldn’t catch Lily Singh apologising for having an opinion. Your voice is your strength – use it.

I hope you are still writing in the future. Even if it doesn’t amount to anything, the feeling you get when someone tells you, they  enjoyed your article, nothing will ever replace that. Hold on to that feeling.

This time last year you were the worse you have been in a while. You were literally broken. It felt as though all the hard work you had put into healing yourself didn’t work but it did. You want to know why, you have bounced back better than ever. You may not be exactly where you want to be but you are getting there. As you tell your friends on a regular basis, everything works out in the end. Just look at how far you have come. You are living in one of the best cities in the world. The girls you lived with are practically like your family by this point.

My wish for you reading this now is that you are content. Wherever you are in the world, I hope you are finally in a state of peace.

All my love

This was an exercise I did with Inspirited Minds. At the time I didn’t know what to write and wanted to do it properly so I thought I would do it here. The point is to print the letter off and read it in two or five years time. Try it, see what happens.
