I have been a blogging for a few years now, and while I am not the biggest blogger on the planet and I have to admit, it is not something I thought would stick at but here I am still typing away – with as much passion and love as I had when I wrote my first blogpost. If you are thinking about blogging, here are some things you may want to consider.
It is hard work
Many readers often see the glamorous parts of blogging, the events, the food, the beautifully curated feed it is there. What you don’t see is that most of those bloggers are a one man band. They may have attended that swish event but they also have a full-time job, many will be going home from the event to do a instastory and rely to their emails until the early hours of the morning. Take it from someone who is constantly being told to get off her laptop and switch off and relax there is a lot of work it is not a job or hobby you can easily switch off from.
Success comes in many forms
It can be very easy to get caught up in the idea of numbers and while it is important to keep track of the numbers it is not just the only thing to consider when it comes to how successful your blog is. I am not the biggest blogger out there but I am still proud of my blog. From gaining an invitation to a blogger event, to meeting new people. Gaining a new career path, all of which would not have been possible without your little space on the internet.
Try and Try again
Whether you are starting off or an old hag and watching to change things up a little bit, it can be a bit scary to try something new, maybe a new picture style, or a new type of post but you will never know how it will be received until you put it out there. My blog for example is not the same as it once was, as I have evolved, so has the blog. The main thing is to make sure you are happy and proud of the content you are producing.
Everyone says this but that is because it is important. Be you, your authentic self, genuine self. That doesn’t mean you have to share your deepest secrets with the internet. If you want too that is fine but it is not essential. What is essential is the topics and the reviews and the discussions you have on the blog are true to you and your values. If it isn’t, it will show in your content and your readers will keep up on it.
If you are thinking of starting a blog, welcome, I hope this helps. I love discovering new blogs so send me a tweet to them and I will check them out.
