Make up Monday | Eye make up for beginners

Now, I am no make up artist, in fact I am far from it but I do like learning how to apply make up and in particular eye make up. I am a bit of an eye make up noob but I have been testing out some methods and wanted to share it with you.

Apply a Matte
Something I have been doing a lot is applying a matte shade as a base I usually apply a brown like Nooner from the Urban Decay Naked Three Palette or from the Stila in the lights palette. It gives your eyes a nice lift and definition. Perfect if you have small of hooded eyes.

A lighter shimmery shade on the lids
Along with the definition from the matte shade to make you look more awake to you need a bit of bright shimmer on the lids. This is my favourite. When I say shimmer, I don’t mean glitter (there is a difference) think along the lines of Stila’s Kitten. That buttery soft shimmer instead of something like Half Baked which is beautiful but appears to have a bit of glitter in it. The light shimmer makes it day time appropriate as well as good for the evening. Especially if you don’t wear eye shadow often sticking to shimmer is a good place to start.

Inner Corner Highlight
I talked about this before here but all good eye looks need this in their routine. It makes the biggest difference to your look and I am so thankful I caught on to this. my go to shades to do this is Kitten by Stila, Verve from Urban Decay. I also sometimes use my highlighter to do this. It works just as well.

Then as a bonus personally, I good eye look needs a flick of eye liner and a sweep of mascara. You can keep it natural by using a nice thin liner (my personal favourite is Essence liner waterproof and I an currently using the Loreal So Couture Mascara)

and that is a simple eye look. I will say practise makes perfect so take your time and enjoy the process. Make up is suppose to be fun and expressive so test out what works for you.

Lots of love
