If you know me, you will know I watch and can deal with a lot of films, but I hate the feeling of being scared and I do not understand the hype surrounding horror films. This means enjoying Halloween can be slightly tricky, which is why I thought I would share some of the things you can do to get into the Halloween spirit without giving in to the gore.
Have a Disney themed party
If you love a good party and like dressing up – just without the blood and gore get your friends around for something light and fun like a Disney. You can all the fun you would at a traditional Halloween party without worrying about someone jumping out at you trying to scare you.
Have a sleepover
Just because you do not have a penchant for all things horror does not mean you have to miss out on spending time with your friends. Get the girls around for a sleepover, grab some snacks and have a good ole natter over some sugary goodness – after all the sweets and candy is what Halloween is all about. Right?
Watch ‘nice’ Halloween films
The thing is, as much as I do not like the blood and gore that comes with Halloween, I am a sucker for all things magical. I grew up on Halloween Town, Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings and all of that goodness. Use Halloween as an excuse to indulge in a good Harry Potter marathon – I mean you never really need an excuse to watch Harry Potter but this is a good time as any to include in a little bit of Harry, Hermione and the magical world of Hogwarts.
Halloween doesn’t have to be filled with blood and gore. If that isn’t for you, that is completely fine! There is a bright side to Halloween too. While I will most likely be watching Netflix, if you are looking for something special to do, I hope this gave you some ideas on how you can enjoy Halloween.
