Five Ways to spend a Staycation

Illamasqua Epic IMG_9668 Summer is here and it seems like everyone is getting ready to hop on a plane and visit the sun. I on the other hand have no travel plans for the imminent future which makes me slightly sad. I love travelling and embracing new places, but I have realised there are still plenty of things I can do while I am in the UK and make the most of my time and soak in the beauty this country has to offer. If this is you, this is five ways to spend a staycation.

Visit Local Museums and Libraries
Yes Libraries do exists. I walked in to my local library a couple of months ago and was devastated at how run down it has become. It use to be my sanctuary full of warm memories and it is a shame these buildings appear to be a dying commodity in communities.

Many local areas have museums which have fun activities and exhibitions during the summer months. Many of these are free so make the most of them and spend an afternoon seeing your town in a new way.

Travel to that place you have always wanted to see
Brighton is a place I have wanted to visit for a very long time but have never got around too. I have made it goal to visit this beautiful seaside town before the year ends. Other places include revisiting Howarth and the Bronte Parsonage.

Spa Weekend
If you need a break from everyday life booking a spa weekend is perfect. You can relax and take some time for yourself. Treatwell is the perfect site to grab some good deals if you are on a budget. If you want something for the family, you can choose a holiday hotel which caters for all the family. When I stayed at the Hillingdon Hotel, I found they had a range of activities from golf to bowling and tennis. This is definitely a place I want to return too in the future.

Catch up on that reading list
Reading has been a big hobby of mine for as long as I can remember. Our busy lives lead us to think we have no time for reading but the reality is that we choose to delegate that time to something else. I’ve decided I want to read a little bit more and get lost in new worlds which is why I have a created a summer book list which I will be sharing soon.

Start a Blog or Youtube Channel.
I started my blog when I went through a bought of looking for a job. It was a dark time in my life when I felt useless, and everything felt uneasy . My blog gave me a purpose, an outlet to be creative and share my thoughts with the rest of the world. I have since created this little space on the internet and is one of the most special feelings in the world.

Do you have any plans for your staycation? Will you be doing any of the above? Let me know.

I am currently on maternity leave and while its definitely not a vacation, we have been taking the kids out to fairs, the zoo, and museums.
