With the busy lives we live, it is very easy to get overwhelmed. Many of us who work have begun to have multi faceted careers and roles which can lead to 100 hour work weeks and burn out can be a thing. Over the past fews years I have developed these five ways to simply your day to ensure not only is your physical health intact but your mental health is too.
Write a checklist
This is something I do most days but especially on days when I have a lot of things I need to do. check list is a to do list but a slightly more thoroughly version of a to do list. For example, When I am uploading a video previously, I would have written upload video but after reading Atul Guwande, I discovered the power behind a checklist.
Break things down in to sizeable chunks
When you have to start a task, the thing which puts people off from starting them is the idea that it is going to take a while which can become daunting. A trick I have learnt is to break these tasks in to sizeable chunks. For example if I am writing an 1000 word essay, I would break it down so give 4 hours for research, a day to write 500 words ect. This way it seems manageable and will prompt you to get the ball rolling.
Adjust your mindset
Something I have learnt over the past few years is that your mindset really does make a difference. Surround yourself with likeminded people who have a thirst for life as they bring positive engird in to your everyday. I have found reminding myself of three things I am thankful form makes such a difference.
Make time to switch off
If you are anything like me, chances are you will be working until you have to stop. Something I learnt towards the end of last year is that it is ok to switch things on an hour before you go to bed and just wind down before going to bed. Not only do you get a better quality of sleep way it is also a wonderful way to take a step back and regroup after a long day.
I can honestly say all of the above go a long way to simplify your day true and tested.
How do you simplify your day? let me know.
